Tenant improvements for a 6,000 sq. ft. space. The program, an adult-child fitness center, consisted of identifiable areas of activity, including a multi-purpose room, retail, administration, child care, reception, and a juice bar. The client desired vibrant spaces with a sense of activity. A strong image as well as the possibilty for repeating the scheme at different locations were needed.
Our main idea for the project was to create a "kit" of recognizable parts that would house the different areas of activities. This approach to the project afforded two main possibilities: we could create a visually strong and vibrant environment and we could create a catalog of parts that could be repeated at other locations. The selection of textures, materials, and colors responded to a criteria of longevity, ease of maintainance and support of our conceptual attitude. Year completed: 1988
